A Pet Bearded Dragon Is Cool
Out of all the reptiles and lizards a pet Bearded Dragon is the best. They are robust and hardy as well as being entertaining and active. Bearded dragons are attractive and seem to have their own personalities. They are not too big, easy to handle and relatively easy to take care of.
They like to be handled and make great pets. Your pet Bearded Dragon will vary in personality. Some show a lot more intelligence and are more lively. Some are full of attitude from day one.
Unlike other lizard species, a Bearded Dragon will almost never bite their handlers, scratch when being held or whip their tails when approached. They are curious creatures and as they get older they will make eye contact with you and approach when you offer treats. They can be held for short periods of time without trying to escape.
They enjoy being hand fed and quickly associate humans with feeding time if food is regularly offered from young.

A pet Bearded Dragon is not demanding or attention seeking in the way a dog is. A Bearded Dragon will not fret if they’re not handled daily. They provide entertainment and enjoyment to the owner without being bossy and needy.
The coolest part of having a pet Bearded Dragon as a pet is just to watch him in his enclosure. The way he climbs and moves around can be very entertaining, similar to watching fish in an aquarium but much more interactive. A well set up vivarium is a real head turner for the home. I’ve seen a vivarium as part of a bar in a games room. It certainly makes for conversation.
Even feeding your pet Bearded Dragon is fun. I have to admit I feel sorry for the poor crickets but being at the bottom of the food chain means they are going to be food for some predator. In the wild Bearded Dragons scavenge and hunt down their prey. They have the most amazing ability to see an insect make the slightest movement and then BAM!
Every afternoon we put our Bearded Dragon, Solo on our lounge room floor. We put her on a large rug we have as our house has tiles and watching a Beardie run over tiles is hilarious. They slip and slide and can’t really get a good grip. That’s why a carpet is better. Once on the rung my son gets a cricket and throws it at the other end of the rug. Solo has to then go after it and hunt it down which she does with great stealth and speed.
My son really enjoys feeding her this way. It’s a great way to interact with your Beardie and another reason why Bearded Dragon pets are so cool.
After the initial set up of their vivarium there is nothing more to do except keep their enclosure clean, feed them and enjoy this most rewarding pet. So if you’re looking for the perfect pet and are after a reptile then a pet Bearded Dragon is the answer.
